At Mountain Adventure Camps it is our aim to make learning as fun as possible at the same time being educational. We offer campers the opportunity to learn and develop their language skills in English or French language lessons.
Children are assessed during a carefully planned, informal discussion with the qualified Language Teacher during the first language lesson. The children are then split into the relevant class – beginner, intermediate and advanced (CEFR levels A1-C2) and remain in these classs for the duration of the camp.
Classes are usually no bigger than 7 students. The small class sizes enable the teacher to develop a close relationship with each student, thus enabling the teacher to identify the students’ strengths and weaknesses in the language.
The language lessons last for 45 minutes every morning and are tailor made to the class’ abilities and interests. Each lesson is designed to be engaging based on communication skills and confidence building ensuring that the campers learn quickly and enjoy their lessons.
Boredom is banned at camp and as awarded ‘LOtC’ quality badge holders, we believe in learning outside of the classroom. To achieve this learning method we have created a selection of language lessons that consist of; plays, debates, word scavenger hunts, trips to the local market, storytelling and many more.
The afternoon activities are run by French speaking individuals, offering the opportunity for higher level learners to listen and respond to a native French speaker.
If your child needs some extra help with language exam revision, common entrance exams or specific areas that they need to improve on, please inform us during the booking process and we can create a specific program to suit your child’s requirements. We can also allocate further revision time during the evenings with a member of staff.
